Cubilete Dice Game

This game has been a traditional favorite in Cuba for many years.

Order of Play:

Each player rolls a single die. The player who rolls highest goes first and play continues to the left.

At the start of each new round, the player who rolled last in the previous round begins the new round.

Game Summary
Object of the Game:

Try to roll the highest 5-of-a-kind and be the first player to score 10 points.

Equipment:

A set of 5 poker dice. Standard 6-sided dice can be used as well.

One or more dice cups (optional).

Number of Players:
2 to 10. Best with 3 to 6.
How to Play:

Each player, in their turn, begins by rolling all five dice. They may roll the dice up to three times, but if a player wishes to stop rolling after their first or second roll they may do so.

After each roll the player sets aside as many of the dice as they wish to keep in their "hand" and then continues rolling the remaining dice.

The goal is to roll a high five-of-a-kind (and the higher the suit the better), so the player should set aside dice accordingly.

Aces act as "wild cards" and can represent any other value.

When all players have had a chance to roll, the player with the highest "hand" scores points (see Scoring).

Scoring:

Only rolls that are 5-of-a-kind score any points. Hands are ranked, and scored, as follows:

  • 5 Aces: 10 points
  • 5 Kings (using no Aces): 5 points
  • 5 Kings (including Aces): 2 points
  • 5 Queens: 1 point
  • 5 Jacks: 1 point
  • 5 10's: 1 point
  • 5 9's: 1 point

The player with the highest hand in a round is the only player to score points for that round.

Winning:

The first player to score 10 points wins.
